Codes for place of service on medical claim


Place of service (POS) is a field on the medical claim form, field 24B:

For each line item on the claim form (up to 6), the POS code must be entered.

There are many POS codes, however for medical billing in dentistry you will generally use one of the following:

11 - office

12 - home

11 is used for most procedures performed in the dental practice. 12 is generally used for oral appliances for OSA.
