This article will go over the steps on how to generate a secondary medical insurance claim.
To generate a secondary medical insurance claim you are first going to want to make sure there is a secondary medical insurance listed in the patient's chart in the Insurance Info tab. Once you know there is a secondary insurance you are going to navigate to the Claims tab in the patient's chart.
You will be using the primary claim to generate the secondary claim, located the claim and click on it to open it up. Once the claim is open locate the Medical Insurer information in the upper right of the claim.
This should have the primary medical insurance information listed and you are going to switch out the primary medical insurance info to the secondary medical insurance info. To do this, if you have the secondary medical insurance listed in the contacts, click on Contacts and find the secondary medical insurance, highlight and click on the green Select and Close button.
Once you select and close and come back to the claim you will see the secondary medical insurance listed in the medical insurance info section. You can now save the claim, print and submit to the secondary medical insurance company.
Make sure if you are printing and mailing the claim in you print the claim on the original CMS 1500 Claim Form, version 02-12.
