How to add an insurance payment to a patient's ledger in DentalWriter Plus+

This article will go over applying an insurance payment to a patient's ledger in DW+

Navigate to the patient's chart and then to the Ledger. Once in the Ledger locate the green +Add Payment button.

Click on the + Add Payment button and you can then choose between Patient Payment and Insurance Payment, click on Insurance Payment.

When you click on Insurance Payment the New Insurance Payment box will open up. This is where you will put the payment information in.

You will need to add the amount, date of payment, payment method and if a claim is not showing in the gray box labeled CMS 1500 you will need to click to select the claim you would like the payment to go towards.  Click and highlight the claim blue and then click the green Select button in the lower right corner. (All areas with a red asterisk needs to be filled in to continue adding in the payment).

Once the claim has been added to the CMS 1500 claim box you will see all the procedure codes associated with that claim listed and you can now allocate the monies to each of the codes.

Once all the money is dispersed you can click Save and then click Back to all Transactions in the upper left above New Insurance Payment to go back to the patient's main ledger. Once back in the ledger you can now see the payment has been added and you can see the amount of all insurance payments at the top of the page.
