Managing Patient's Ledgers: Adding Opening Balances in DentalWriter Plus+
An opening balance is the initial money carried forward to a new accounting period on a patient's account. This balance can either be a debit or credit amount.
Opening balances becomes very important if you transfer your accounts from one accounting system to another. In such cases, the last entry in the old accounts becomes the opening balance in the new accounts.
Please follow the steps below to add an opening (credit/debit) balance to a patient's ledger in DentalWriter Plus+:
- Please access the patient's chart and locate the option for the Ledger. Click on it to view the patient's ledger.
- On the Ledger, navigate to the right-hand side below Visit Statement and select the three vertical dots (ellipsis) beside Ledger Note.
- After clicking on the three vertical dots (ellipsis), select the Patient's opening balance from the drop-down menu.
- After selecting the opening balance, please choose the appropriate date, enter the opening balance amount, specify whether it's a credit or debit balance, and add a memo if necessary then save the details.
- After saving the details, an entry will be added to the ledger as an adjustment for the opening balance with appropriate information.
