Submitting Pre-auth or Prior Authorization requests

Recommended method to submitting for a prior authorization to an insurance company.

The current recommended procedure for submitting a pre-authorization is to initiate a phone call with the insurance company and discuss the services that will be provided. In some cases, the insurance company may request you to complete a form and send it via fax. However, this method is much quicker compared to the traditional approach of filling out a CMS1500 claim form and sending it via fax, mail, or electronic submission to the insurer.

Additionally, certain insurance providers collaborate with a third-party company. In such instances, the insurance provider will ask you to contact that particular company, and they will assist you with the pre-authorization process or provide you with their own form to complete.
