Summary: This document covers, what information transfers, what does not, and other questions concerning any migration efforts.
What information transfers from DentalWriter Desktop to DentalWriter Plus?
The following information/fields will transfer into DentalWriter Plus from DentalWriter Desktop:
- Patient contact & demographic information
- Name, address, date of birth, phone number(s), e-mail address, height, weight, social security number, responsible party, referral source.
- Patient insurance information
- Insurance type, payer name & address, ID #, group/policy #, patient relationship to insured, secondary insurance info.
- Contacts list
- All entries on contacts list (i.e. other health professionals & medical insurers)
- Document center documents
- GENERATED SOAP notes/narrative reports from visits/forms
- GENERATED QuickLetters
- All uploaded miscellaneous documents
- Appointment book (from 1/1/2019 forward)
- Claims
- Ledger entries
- Provider set up information (excluding provider signature image. Our team can assist to add)
What information DOES NOT transfer from DentalWriter Desktop to DentalWriter Plus?
The following information/fields DO NOT transfer into DentalWriter Plus from DentalWriter Desktop:
- Visits/forms
- The visits/forms that you see in your visits/forms tab in patient charts DO NOT transfer. However, any SOAP notes/narrative reports generated from those visits will transfer over into the document center.
- Customizations to visits/forms
- Any customizations applied to your visits/forms (i.e. adding new questionnaire or exam items, sections that were shown or hidden)
Will I still have access to my DentalWriter Desktop after the transfer?
Yes. Your DentalWriter Desktop will go into read only mode, but you will still have access to all already created patients and visits, and have the ability to generate & print out SOAP notes/narrative reports and other reports.
Do my online patient questionnaire links stay the same?
No. You will have new patient questionnaire links. Please be sure to update the link that you may have added to your website, e-mail templates, etc.
How does the transfer happen?
*Important note: once the transfer has been completed, any information added to your DentalWriter Desktop will NOT transfer into your DentalWriter Plus. You should begin using DentalWriter Plus instead of DentalWriter Desktop.
If DentalWriter Desktop is installed to your local server & workstations:
We will schedule a time with you for our technical support team to complete the transfer. Our technical support team will need your assistance to get connected into any computer that has DentalWriter installed on it(Server is best). Establishing the connection typically takes a few minutes. The data transfer averages between 1-3 hours, however can take up to 8 hours or more, depending on the size of your database and internet speed. You cannot use your DentalWriter Desktop or DentalWriter Plus during the transfer.
If you utilize hosted DentalWriter Desktop (installed to the hosted server):
We will schedule a time with you for our technical support team to complete the transfer. The data transfer averages between 1-3 hours, however can take up to 8 hours or more, depending on the size of your database and internet speed. You cannot use your DentalWriter Desktop or DentalWriter Plus during the transfer. Once the transfer is complete, we will schedule a time with you for our technical support team to move your hosted DentalWriter Database to a local computer so you can still access the read only mode of it.
